Lansdowne Road Drawings Launch
Brian O’ Driscoll launches Desmond McCarthy’s Lansdowne Road Series of drawings in the RDS Dublin in March 2007.
Present from left to right are the IRFU President, artist Desmond McCarthy, an interviewer and Irish Rugby Captain Brian O’Driscoll.
The Irish Rugby Football Union commissioned Desmond McCarthy to create a series of drawings in order to record and capture the atmosphere and history of the oldest rugby stadium in the world before the demolition of the famous Stands, Clubhouses and Terraces.
The new Lansdowne Road Stadium re-opened as the Aviva Stadium in 2010.
These drawings can be purchased from the IRFU in a series of signed & numbered Limited Edition Prints, stamped with the Artist’s seal.
Details of the exhibition are here.
